Costa Rica Fishing - Fish Species
When you fish on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, it's common to release a dozen or more sailfish and even a marlin or two in a single day of fishing, and in the peak of our season, it’s not unusual to release more than 30 sailfish a day. In addition to the sought after billfish, there are also giant yellow fin tuna, slender wahoo, cubera, huge roosterfish, a variety of snapper, grouper, blue runners, rainbow runners, snook, tarpon and many more species waiting for you. You can also watch the dolphin while out on the water. Costa Rica Captains release all billfish so the future of the resource is assured for generations to come. Most anglers hook plenty of food fish (dorado, snapper, etc.) to ensure a fresh fish dinner for everyone. Depending on your schedule, it is possible to create a combo trip that will allow you to fish for almost any of these species while traveling the Central Pacific, Caribbean, and Southern Pacific fishing the entire way.
